Dixie Allen
Disaster Action Team Leader
Cache County Red Cross.
 

Born and raised in Cache Valley, Dixie Allen has been volunteering with the Cache County American Red Cross for 13 years now.  She is the Disaster Action Team Leader for our local chapter.  She have learned a lot over the years about how to help the community and loves every minute of it!!!  Dixie owns a business called Accents of Permanent Beauty, where she does permanent cosmetics.  Dixie is also a manager at Sizzler here in Logan.  She enjoys keeping herself busy doing anything outdoors, recently training llamas for backpacking someday!!!

Adrienne Akers 
President & CEO, Dynamic Screening Solutions, Inc.

In 2007, Adrienne Akers left a 25+ year career as a physical therapist and senior researcher at the Early Intervention Research Institute at Utah State University to start up Dynamic Screening Solutions, Inc (DSS). Adrienne spearheaded the development and testing of The ONE Application known as Utah Clicks in Utah. Utah Clicks helps families fill out paperwork for multiple state programs without duplication of effort. Adrienne served as the project director of the original federal grant that provided funding to create, pilot and deploy the initial prototype of The ONE Application in Utah. Adrienne pursued and achieved a 2006 Innovation Award from the Council of State Governments for the core technology associated with The ONE Application. DSS' latest product -- 321Forms -- provides a secure web-based HR enrollment process that is paperless and improves compliance. Adrienne holds a masters degree from Utah State University and has worked with thousands of children with special needs and their families. Adrienne provides senior direction and management of the company with a focus on marketing, sales and strategic development. Adrienne also serves as the co-chair of the Cache Entrepreneurial Council.

February 18, 2010 John T. Mathews
Regional Economist / State of Utah

John T. Mathews has worked as an economist for the Department of Workforce Services (and previously, the Department of Employment Security) for 30 years. He has a B.S. and an M.S. in economics from the University of Utah.

Mr. Mathews’ primary areas of responsibility include serving as the North Region Economist, monitoring and reporting on the economies of Utah’s six northern counties. He is also responsible for preparing the Department’s industry employment projections for metro Utah, non-metro Utah, and the state as a whole; and helping prepare the occupational employment projections for Utah. This information is released in Utah Job Trends, Utah Careers and in the Choices career information delivery system. Mr. Mathews is responsible for developing and updating the economic information presented in the Department’s Economic Information Internet site for the six northern counties. He conducts labor market information training and other ad hoc research, such as the Child Care Market Rate Survey, Utility Rate Survey, and Agricultural Wage Survey.

Mr. Mathews has served as an Assistant Adjunct Professor of economics at the University of Utah and is currently on the economics faculty at the University of Phoenix. Upon retirement, he plans to re-enter the fishing world.

Training & Development Specialist 

Chris has eight years of human resources experience, including recruiting and hiring, employee training and development, and management and supervision. He has previously worked in Washington, D.C., as an Internship Program Coordinator in the United States Senate and in both Virginia and Utah as an Research Consultant for the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). He currently resides in Logan, where he is employed as a Training and Development Specialist in the Custom Fit department at Bridgerland Applied Technology College.  Chris has a B.A. in Communication from George Washington University, and an M.S. in Human Resources from Utah State University.
